I have had these pictures on my phone for over a year now.  I really meant to put them up right away. But life happened.  So now I am looking at these pictures of  my child and her friends and remembering how super small they were when we visited Niemietz!  This awesome park is just off 78, but you may not even notice it when you drive by.  We had all been enjoying some coffee at Emily's Place and no one felt like heading back home, so we took a quick drive down the road to Niemietz.  There's a lot going on at this park, but our two year olds were only concerned with the playground. 

Here is the main playscape from a few different angles.  It is very toddler friendly, and partially shaded by a tree. It's probably not very exciting for school aged kids.

There are a few bouncy, ride-on things. 

And these interesting structures to climb.  These were a little too challenging for our group, but look like a lot of fun for kids who are older.

 This part also was a little too challenging for the toddlers, but preschoolers and school aged kids would enjoy rock wall, stepping stones, and the climbing rungs.

There are sling swings, a bucket swing, and one accessible swing.

This was a really short tunnel to nowhere and I believe there were some drums or something else slightly musical also attached to this part of the playground. 

Schlather Park

We hadn't been to Schlather park in about a year, and this visit reminded me why.  No, it isn't just these signs:

Although last time I remember a "beware of snakes" sign in front of EVERY parking space.  From a distance I was worried every spot was handicapped parking.  Nope, just wanted to get the message of snakes across.  Message received.  The real issue with Schlather park for us is the playscape.  A year ago, my daughter was content to stay on the small section devoted to toddlers.  However, the majority of the playscape is geared toward older children.  Actually, all of the very best stuff relies on being able to climb a vertical ladder through a hole in the upper deck.  We are so not there yet.  So we had a very brief visit today.  Also, there is no shade, and many of the slides were pretty hot.  The park looks really great, it just isn't the right place for my 2 year old.  She mostly wandered up and down the stairs and across the bridge, insisting that she was having fun and did NOT want to go home.  If you have older children, you should definitely check it out.  I haven't actually been on the walking trail, but I have heard good things.  And the many picnic tables and bbq stands would make it a great place to host a gathering (especially if your kids are old enough to enjoy the playground!)

Veteran's Memorial Park

Location:  Cibolo Valley Dr. behind the fire station (there is no street address according to Google)

Amenities: play structure, basketball court, soccer field, bathroom

Ground cover: wood chips

Veteran's Memorial Park is a great place for kids of all ages.  The play structure is a good height for toddlers and young children, with few openings out of which to fall.  It may not be very entertaining or challenging for school age children.  However, there is also a soccer field, basketball court, and swings (both sling and bucket).  There is no shade on the play structure itself, but there is a small covered area with picnic tables that offers shade on hot days.  It also always seems to be windy here, so it is a great spot for flying kites.

 The bumpy blue part is a rock wall that is easier for young toddlers to do than traditional ones are.

The tallest slide is still not very high off the ground, which is what makes this park so great for the very little ones.
